Hand-feeding the Wildlife.

Although it is frowned upon to hand feed the white sharks, I have found a certain land animal that exudes friendliness and a love of clementines. The rock hyrax, or "dossies" as they are known in africaans, are found all around the Mossel Bay lighthouse. They are incredibly cute, some sort of mix between woodchucks and groundhogs, and I have a personal fondness for these small creatures. Last Friday, during a morning cetacean survey at the same site, we decided to sneak up to the dossies in order to take some close-up snapshots. Instead of shooting some photos, we ended up hand-feeding the especially brave ones, although I'm not sure if clementines would have been their first choice for lunch. Enjoy my photos of the morning fun with South African wildlife......
