Since it's the winter months in South Africa, the weather tends to turn stormy for a few days here and there. We couldn't spend the day on the water, so instead, six of us rented two cars and headed inland to an animal reserve to enjoy some quality time with Africa's native wildlife. There were ring-tailed lemurs, warthogs, meercats, crocs, cheetah cubs, white bengals, lions and pygmy hippos. I ended up being able to get up-close and personal, and spent a few minutes in the baby tiger enclosure, petting the blue-eyed cats. It wasn't a day on the water with the sharks, but it was amazing to get to take a closer look at what lives on Africa's terra firma, and I'm looking forward to riding an ostrich soon.
